Suddenly, I'm Motivated.

Turns out, after randomly sending a podcaster an email, he responder that he liked my site and wanted to subscribe. Turns out my RSS & Atom links were broken, and he asked me if I could fix them.

There are a few ways this could've gone...

The wrong way Oh, that doesn't really matter. No one uses feeds anyway. Just visit the site.

The really wrong way Don't criticize my work! I worked really hard on this and I can't believe you're actually saying something bad about it!"

The right way Ooops, you're right. I disabled them when I was first building the site, never removed the links, and forgot to turn them back on later. They'll be enabled by the time you get this email. Thanks for letting me know.

The point? It's just like I said in my last post. Don't be a jerk - someone did me a huge favor to let me know that I had messed up something little, but something worth catching.

While I'm confessing mistakes, here's one: when I uploaded the newest version of my site, I forgot to include my Google Analytics tracking info. I also found a little bug in the image preloader. Instead of showing what image it was actually working on, it was one image behind. That's fixed too - and I only noticed it because the network at my day job was slow today.

My freelance thing is moving forward. It's a website for a Haven Skate Park in North Haven, CT. It's something I'm having a lot of fun with to keep me creatively sane. They're the best non-agency clients I could ask for - they're incredibly helpful and honest, and sure about what they want (in a good way). I'm launching the site in 2 stages. Stage 1 is a 'beta' while their facility is under construction. It's just a small teaser to get the basic info about their park, and then closer to opening, the main site will launch.
